Hi Mike,

I am a photo researcher with Bill Smith Group, working on an educational textbook for Cengage Learning. We would like to include a photo of the KTHI-TV mast, and I noticed that you have one on your blog. Please let me know if this photo is available in high resolution (300dpi at 5x7") for publication in a textbook. I look forward to your response.

Best,
Sarah

Most people sound better (or at least more alive) then NPR announcers. I've been accused of sounding like them sometimes. I try not to :)

Both Jon and I watched this. A fabulous vintage piece! Amazing that there was only 20 yrs. from Wright brothers to flying dog fights and flying as high as 20,000 feet. I found THAT amazing for an open cockpit. WOW!

I was always fascinated with this structure. My high school buddies thought I was more than just a little weird when I would take the back roads to Fargo just to stop and reflect on it's majesty : ) I would stop about 10-12 miles from it and ask them how far they thought it was to that tower and they would guess 1 or 2 miles. By the time we arrived, they had a new appreciation for just how tall this monster was. I remember discussing how long it would take to hit the ground if one were unfortunate enough to fall from the top. Those calculations are lost in the haze of time, but I do remember that it was a long time to be screaming! I have great pictures (somewhere?) of the tower taken right after an ice storm. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Hi Mike

Thanks for these podcasts! I'm an English teacher and have to teach technical/aviation English to a new class of teenagers who will become airplane technicians. I was looking for related material on the Internet and found your podcasts. This will be one of the links I will provide them with. The transcriptions are very useful.

Thanks!
