As I type this I am in the Hotel room after we finished with the Tech Podcast Network coverage of the 2012 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. I’m beat up and tired. I’m looking forward to getting back to my normal sleep schedule. As tough as the schedule was, I’m very happy at how the coverage turned out. We shot over 250 product interviews both in our booth (also streamed live) and on the show floor with our 3 film crews.

The Experience of going to CES and going with such a diverse team was the highlight of my year so far (yeah, I know it’s only January). Meeting the people I’ve interacted with online for (in some cases) years and also re-meeting others that I’ve met before is a great honor and pleasure. It’s amazing to me that such a group can come together for a common goal and produce 40 plus hours of HD video content from all over a trade show that is the size of over 35 football fields.

I will talk a lot more about how all this came together and a bit of history about the Tech Podcast network’s coverage over the last 7 years on the next Geek Of The North which will be out on Tuesday Evening.

I plan on putting up some of the coverage here on Geek of the North with some embedded videos from TPN.TV over the next year. So be sure to check the website for some great tech goodness!

Off to bed for me. I’ll be back in the Michigan Saturday night and will likely sleep till showtime on Tuesday!

    As you know, I’ve been doing 3 podcasts regularly for some time. Maybe not as regular as I should. I’ve been looking at my real-world schedule and came to a couple of conclusions.

  • 1. Geek of the North needs to go to 2 times a week
  • 2. Mike Dell’s world should move the weekend as it is my Hobby Podcast/blog
  • 3. Tuesday is not a good day to podcast for me. I have a radio show on Tuesday night which makes my mornings busy on Tuesdays.

    • So the plan I’ve come up with is as follows:

    Monday – Geek of the North recording to release on Monday night
    Tuesday – No podcasting
    Wednesday – Aviation History this week Recording to release on the following Monday
    Thursday – No podcasting
    Friday – Geek of the North Recording to release on Friday
    Saturday – No podcasting
    Sunday – MDW recording (unless I make an unscheduled episode) for release Monday

    The Unplugged feed and the Ipadio feed will be updated as the mood strikes and What’s up with that might happen once in a while.

    I’m really wanting to take my podcasting to the next level and try to grow audience and community. Geek of the North and Aviation History this week are going to be my more “professional” podcasts. Mike Dell’s World will continue to be my Hobby podcast.

    As you can see, I’ve been tweaking and tweaking the look of this website. Partly because I could never get it “just right” and partly because I’m having a ball learning more and more about WordPress.

    As you also know, I’ve had a couple of false starts on launching the podcast. Part of that is I was trying to do a show that isn’t my style. Much like Strange Today. That was a great podcast, but it wasn’t “me” and if I can’t just be me, then I’m not motivated to do it on a regular basis.

    So, to that end, I’ve widened the scope of what I want this show to be. It’s going to be ME talking about the tech subjects that I like to talk about in a way that I like to talk about them. Relaxed, unscripted and comfortable. Like I’m talking to you over a beer or cup of coffee. I hope you will like the new format.

    I’m also going to be sticking to a strict schedule. (yeah, I’ve said that before) So, anyway… My schedule is as follows:

    Monday: No Podcasts. Use this for Web work
    Tuesday: Record Mike Dell’s World (main feed)
    Wednesday: Other recording projects (like BanjoTrax on Ed’s Mixed Bag)
    Thursday: Record Geek Of The North
    Friday: Record What’s Up With That (once in a while) and/or record the ***yet to be named new show with co-host***

    Unscheduled: ipadio updates (see www.mikedell.com for info on that) and / or record Mike Dell’s World (unplugged feed) Also, record for www.flightradio.com as needed.

    I want to take my podcasting to the next level of dependability.

    I really appreciate that you take a slice of time out of your week to listen to me and I think it’s only fair that I make sure I’m there for that time, every time and all the time.

    Hi, I’m Mike Dell. (no, not that one) And being a geek about Aviation, Radio, Broadcasting, Cars, Tractors and Motorcycles I figured I would do a podcast that reflects those interests and leave the cellphone and computer stuff to the other great podcasts out there. Geek Of The North will be a weekly audio podcast and the blog will be updated as needed to keep you up to date on your favorite off-beat tech stuff.
